Time Travel

Hey Friends!

We are battling limited WiFi over here, but did my best to get something up before my greatest fan Ari defriends me forever!

I don't make this stuff up!

It is already day 3 in NZ! We boarded our SFO time machine on Friday November 9thand disembarked at AKL on Monday Nov 11th.  We feel so guilty about skipping Keith’s brothers birthday, November 10th, entirely. Happy Birthday Alan!  Sorry we didn’t live to see it!

Day 1:

The first order of business was to pick up our rental van.   Ok, Ok, its more like rental RV, but we are pretending like we are #vanlife cool.

Home for the next week!  Drive, Sleep, Eat, Bathroom AND Shower all in one!

We then headed straight to our first excursion, Sea Kayaking!  Well, that isn’t entirely true.  We headed straight to a grocery store and packed our van full of all things Hillier’s love before heading out on a Sunset Sea Kayak Tour.  We Kayaked over to Rangitoto Island, the youngest of Auckland’s volcanoes, and explored the lava caves.  The original plan was to hike to the summit and enjoy some fine city views, but we just so happened to have a newlywed couple, that had never kayaked a day in their life, on the excursion.  They were slower than molasses and we ended up missing the sunset. At least we didn’t miss our Kiwi style BBQ dinner. Hangry Hillier’s is a bad thing.

Day 2:

We woke the next morning well rested and ready for an E-Biking Aukland adventure. I chose the best bike of all; “Tall Polly” was her name.  Keith picked a bike with the best specs, kinda lame cause I don’t even think his had a name.

We decided we’d seen enough of Aukland and opted to leave a day earlier than planned. The luxury of living in a van is that we are free to go where we want!  Keith suggested we head to Raglan, the surf town of northern NZ. We didn’t do any surfing, but we made ourselves quite comfortable!
Cheers from NZ!
